Job Description

We now have an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Tax Professional to join us on a six-month contract basis to manage our direct tax globally for the group.

Key responsibilities

  • Management of all components of the group’s Effective Tax Rate and cash tax including effective forecasting and anticipation and incorporation of major business and legislative changes;
  • Implementing the group’s tax policy in line with the published Tax Strategy;
  • Functional leadership across the direct tax team including using KPIs to drive performance;
  • Tax planning for existing businesses, capital projects, growth objectives, and changing legislation.
  • Lead support to business in direct tax matters including business unit/sector support and specialist input into M&A transactions;
  • Preparation of the year-end and half-year published accounts in respect of taxation reporting and maintaining effective relationships with external auditors;
  • Responsibility for the compliance of corporate tax returns including accuracy and timeliness;
  • Manage the use of specialist external tax advisers globally including engagement parameters and service delivery;
  • Determining the key direct tax risks and leading compliance/improvement across businesses/sectors to ensure a strong control environment;
  • Management of tax controversy and tax authority relations including effective ongoing actions to resolve outstanding issues;
  • Lead global transfer pricing compliance across the organization ensuring sectors and businesses have appropriate documentation, appropriate benchmarking and cost allocation;
  • Partner with the indirect tax, treasury and insurance teams as necessary;
  • As a senior leader within the Tax, Treasury and Insurance team lead the development of people and the functions across the organisation.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Have relevant professional qualification (ACA and/or CTA) Have solid experience of international taxation and tax accounting experience, ideally having lead a smaller tax team or been deputy in to an equivalent role Be IT literate with a good knowledge of Excel Have excellent communication skills - assertive, articulate, persuasive and confident in dealing with senior people within the organisation Show the ability to make practical and commercial recommendations and to drive through implementation of those ideas
