Job Description

You will proactively manage and maintain adequate systems of financial control over assets and records ensuring all balance sheet accounts are analyzed, reconciled and reviewed regularly. This role will support the review of existing accounting processes & systems, ensuring the delivery of relevant enhancements that will improve the effectiveness of the Financial Accounting and Control function.

  • Develop a best in class Financial Accounting team enabling delivery of an efficient and accurate financial close and reporting process;
  • Maintain the General Ledger and develop appropriate systems procedures, ensure strong internal controls are fully in place in all are
  • Effectively manage the delivery of Finance projects on time;
  • Be cognizant of emerging commercial, accounting and regulatory requirements, ensuring that the Financial Accounting team deliver appropriately, contributing to the success of Finance and the Bank;
  • Focusing on Retail, Treasury & Securitizations, have responsibility for managing and maintaining adequate systems of financial control over assets and records ensuring all
  • Managing a team of up to ten people; ensuring that the team are clear on their roles, engaged, motivated and understand their function and position within the Financial Accounting & Control Team and the wider Finance community;
  • Support and manage the delivery of a risk assured, service oriented, performance focused, operationally excellent Financial Accounting & Control function, focusing on Retail, Treasury & Securitizations, while embedding a culture of quality service delivery to all customers & stakeholders;
  • Deliver an adequate and effective training and competency regime within the functional area of responsibility. Oversee development, documentation and execution of training and knowledge transfer process for your team; Develop relationships with all critical stakeholders e.g. Colleagues, Senior Finance Managers, Head of External Reporting, CFO, External Auditors, managing engagements proactively;

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA);
  • Solid understanding of best practice financial processes/systems and proven track record to lead the development of same;
  • Self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and an ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines;
  • Team focused displaying ability to work with others within and outside the team and a willingness to be flexible to assist in achieving the overall goals of the team;
  • Strong focus on attention to detail; ¿ Sound commercial acumen and excellent communication skills both verbal and written;
  • Excellent leadership skills, shows initiative and courage to challenge the status quo and to remove barriers to change;
  • Enthusiastic, committed and proactive approach to problem solving;
  • Sound business judgment and an ability to be conclusive;
  • Excellent knowledge of both Retail and Treasury products, their practical uses and application relevant accounting standard;
  • Understanding of asset and liability management and treasury function and accounting;
  • Technical accounting knowledge of IFRS, Companies Act, Central Bank & ECB reporting requirements.
