Job Description
  • Responsibility for the completion of financial and market analysis for MIFL & MIL
  • Review trends within the industry and provide comparative analysis on the Mediolanum Irish Companies versus their peers (benchmarking) and present observations/findings of same to the relevant Stakeholders.
  • Design and implement a Key Performance Indicator report for presentation to Senior Management on a quarterly basis. This will include identification of trends, forward-looking analysis, ratio and sensitivity analysis to support executive decision making
  • Undertake scenario planning, profitability analysis, trend analysis, identifying opportunities to improve defined KPI’s.
  • Work closely with the Product team on the design of new and innovative Mediolanum products/offerings and benchmarking against Market Peer offerings across target markets. This will include producing profitability analysis for new and existing Life Insurance and Fund Products.
  • Undertake strategic projects aligned to overall business objectives.
  • Partner strongly with the Head of Budgeting & Forecasting, CFO’s for MIFL and MIL and Senior Management to achieve business objectives.
  • Drive improvement opportunities identified into the Budget and Forecasting process, in conjunction with the Head of Budgeting and Forecasting and Senior Management.
  • Drive process improvements across the function specifically the rapid adoption of technology solutions.
  • Undertake ad hoc projects as required by the CFO or Managing Directors.
  • Present to the MD, Senior Management, Boards of Directors and other stakeholders.
  • Proactively partner with Accounting and across the business to deliver superior results.
  • Support, coach and inspire a team of talented, skilled colleagues to deliver superior results.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Aptitude for numerical analytical and mathematical subjects coupled with a deep knowledge of the financial services sector, ideally the Asset Management/Fund/Life Sectors
  • Self starter and quick learner, with a proven ability to collaborate across functions and organisations. and act independently as necessary. Comfortable with exposure to senior & Executive Management up to and including Boards of Directors.
  • Proactive individual who can research issues, identify solutions/opportunities, based on data, and present same to senior managers on their own initiative.
  • Highly organised individual who can self-manage multiple priorities, in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment, addressing both routine work and urgent issues as they arise.
  • Ability to display knowledge & authority in dealings with all parties and can establish him/herself as a Subject Matter Expert for internal and external parties
  • Can establish him/herself as a Subject Matter Expert for internal and external parties. Successfully develop and manage relationships both internally and externally.
  • Highly capable in building relationships within and across the business, both locally and internationally.
  • Excellent People management skills, with a proven ability to lead and support a team through mentoring and coaching would be an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal, written and numeric skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Advanced IT skills on Data Modelling, Excel, Power BI, etc. Needs to be comfortable with technology and presenting information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Big 4 Qualified Accountant, with 5-10 years PQE
  • Candidate must have Financial Services (ideally Asset/Funds Management/Life) Industry experience.
  • Previous Experience as Head/Lead of FP&A or similar, comfortable with handling large data sets.
  • People/Team Management experience would be desirable.
  • Language Skills Italian would be desirable, but not essential.
