Job Description

You will be responsible for producing and delivering accurate financial accounts for staff and non-staff related costs in order for the business to make the right commercial decisions and deliver its plans.

  • Month End Accounting – Ownership of accounting for the area working with a range of stakeholders & service providers within both Consumer and Group Finance to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of Consumer
  • Month End Reporting - Presenting latest financial performance, providing clear insight on both variances and future performance
  • Financial Control and Compliance – establish robust financial processes and associated outputs ensuring full implementation of controls across the P&L and Balance Sheet. Full compliance of relevant accounting standards and controls (IFRS16) to support internal & external audit
  • Financial Analysis – directly business partner with relevant Commercial Finance teams and the Business to ensure understanding financial performance
  • Budgeting and Forecasting - Supporting in the production of budgets and latest views with Commercial Finance for both P&L and balance sheet in line with forecasting timescales
  • Process Improvement – drive a culture of continuous improvement within both own area of accountability and across the wider team
  • Leading and supporting on projects and transformation initiatives including those supporting the delivery of the programme
  • Managing and coaching a team of finance professionals to deliver and perform to their best

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven knowledge and broad experience in finance, covering a breadth of activities and best in class practices and policies
  • Ability to understand complex systems
  • Proven ability to influence and coach business partners and build key relationships
  • Communication skills - translating complex financial outcomes to senior financial and non-financial stakeholders through both oral and written communication. Ability to tailor message to the relevant audience, distilling key messages without losing the appropriate level of detail
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility and respect and build strong working collaborative relationships.
  • Demonstrate professionalism with a proven ability to operate in a complex, fast paced business environment.
  • Able to identify issues, get to root causes through the use of financial analysis and insight to diagnose and solve problems
  • Bold and confident thinking, challenging the status quo where appropriate
  • Able to use initiative to deal with ambiguity, identify resources to implement and determine pragmatic solutions
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
  • Experience of core accounting processes – accruals, prepayments, balance sheet ownership.
  • Experience of senior stakeholder management, demonstrating ability to work closely with and partner with the business within a highly complex challenging environment.
  • Experienced in financial analysis and the preparation of material to support senior management level decision making.
