Job Description

Working within the fight against organised crime and counter terrorism is an exciting and challenging role which provides excellent development opportunities within a busy and fast-moving environment. The main focus of the role is to provide administrative support to our Intelligence Officers, with a key responsibility to research and input intelligence data onto our secure systems. You will have a vital role within our team responding to intelligence on organised crime, radicalisation, extremism, and attack planning emanating from the prison estate.  Previous experience of police systems such as Athena, PNC and PND are preferable, but are not essential as training will be provided. This vacancy is a full-time position for maternity cover for a minimum of 12 months. 

The main objectives of the Prison intelligence Unit are:

  • To Identify and support disruption, as well as dismantling Organised Crime Groups and Counter Terrorism offenders impacting on the Eastern Region from within the prison estate and reduce the harm caused by these groups.
  • Support our Forces and Force Prison Intelligence Officers in every aspect of gathering and managing intelligence.
  • Receive, create and disseminate intelligence in relation to prisons and prisoners across our region and nationally.
  • Create additional intelligence specialist capacity and capability across the region through effective partnership between the Police, Counter Terrorism Policing and Her Majesty’s Prison service in order to make our region a place hostile to organised crime.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) or Development Vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post.  Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.
