This administrative leadership role is pivotal in the day-to-day operation of the Department and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to demonstrate their previous experience of strategic planning, supporting the Head of Department to identify and deliver departmental strategy and other key operational outcomes, whilst supporting the School in achieving its strategic aims and objectives in relation to governance, policy and business operations in support of teaching and research.
With significant previous experience of operational and strategic planning in a senior administrative role within Higher Education, or another complex setting, the successful candidate will lead, manage and motivate the Department's professional services staff who deliver key support services in HR, finance, grants administration, teaching support, buildings and facilities, internal and external communications, compliance and other operational areas.
Utilising advanced communication and interpersonal skills, the successful candidate will not only build effective working relationships within their teams but will also develop and maintain effective working networks across the University's central administration. Educated to at least first degree level, the ideal applicant will be able to engage with the values and aspirations of a teaching and research intensive institution, and be able to manage both projects and operational tasks concurrently.
