Job Description

You will be a subject matter expert in customs formalities for the research departments across company and due to the nature of the goods; you will be dealing with a number of different and unique types of shipments of critical research material on a regular basis. You will be responsible for ensuring that goods needed for major and crucial research projects clear through customs in a timely and compliant manner.

You will act as primary contact for Global colleagues, Freight Forwarders, Customs Brokers and Suppliers providing support in all matters relating to the end to end operational activities of Customs import/export compliance including, but not limited to:

  • Import and export Customs clearance activities
  • Collection, audit and remediation of Customs documentation
  • Liaising with Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders, Suppliers, Customs Authorities and internal stakeholders

You will be comfortable working both independently, within a small team and have strong interpersonal skills capable of dealing with all types of individuals.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • UK and global customs import/export formalities
  • Application of Incoterms© rules
  • HS code classification
  • Country of Origin determination (FTA)
  • Valuation for customs purposes

Working knowledge/experience of using the following is preferable:

  • Controlled goods
  • Duty/VAT reliefs
  • Hazardous goods
  • Authorizations
  • Experience of using SAP ERP systems
