The Project Accountant’s primary responsibilities are to provide a comprehensive accounting service to all Advance HE staff which will include but is not limited to the following:
Interface with budget holders on (at least) a fortnightly basis
Monitor project performance, supporting teams in their understanding of financial performance
Drive consistency and predictability in month/quarterly financials
Investigate and report on project margins, variances and forecasts, highlighting risks and proposed actions
Monitor and report to the Financial Controller any issues regarding the impact of revenue recognition matters
Provide monthly forecasts of income and expenditure
Annual financial statements and assist with annual budgeting
Assist with the production of year end schedules and information for (annual) audit(s)
Accounting systems, controls and procedures
Ensure sales invoices are being requested and raised on a timely basis and assist with credit control as required
Knowledge and skills
Accountancy qualification or part qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
A proven track record of working on both long and short term projects.
Experience of providing financial support to and working as part of a project team.
Experience of developing, working, and maintaining budgets and forecasts.
Experience of financial software packages, purchase order systems and CRM systems.
Sound, up to date understanding of VAT regulations.
Sound, up to date understanding of current financial related legislation and its impact on procedures.
Experience of full Balance Sheet reconciliations.
Proven project accounting and skills.
Experience of Payroll (or audit of payroll reports).
Experience of working as part of a team.
Experience of report preparation and formatting of documentation.
Experience of working with a range of databases or CRM systems including all aspects of data gathering and migration, input, and verification.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong numeric and analytical skills.
Excellent IT skills especially the use of spreadsheets, including use of MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) - intermediate levels or above.
