Job Description

You would be expected to have gained a solid understanding of the basic principles of accounting in a previous role, and will be responsible for the undertaking of accounts preparation for non-audit clients, including the preparation of related tax computations/returns and the completion of personal tax returns with minimal supervision.

  • Prepare and check accounts from client records using a variety of software
  • Deal with initial queries on accounts (by phone, email or letter) and action accordingly
  • Finalize and send accounts after review
  • Draft basic tax computations and complete personal tax returns
  • Control of own assignment time within pre-determined budget
  • Professional liaison with client and/or client’s staff
  • Complete adhoc management accounting assignments when required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

You will not be responsible for other team members directly on arrival, but in due course required to assist new trainees and less experienced members in the team as you progress with your knowledge and experience.

You would ideally be AAT, or ACA/ACCA part qualified, and have experience using Xero, Sage & QuickBooks. An up-to-date knowledge of VAT would be desirable too.

This role would suit someone who is confident, articulate and able to communicate with all levels (externally and internally), as well as being a team player liaising with all departments within the firm. As the role progresses, you would need to have the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, partners and clients, while at the same time having the ability to priorities your own workload to meet client deadlines and to manage competing priorities of a varying complexity.

You will have full study support in this role, as well as regular CPD, allowing you to learn technical skills and compliance in other areas of the business away for your core duties.
