Job Description

A fantastic opportunity exists for a conscientious and experienced Assistant Accountant to work with this progressive and growing commercial business. As the new member of the finance team, you will support the Financial Controller in the preparation, development and analyses of financial information which will in turn enable the business to make well-informed decisions.

We are looking for someone with an analytical mindset and someone who thrives in a busy vibrant environment.

  • Assist in the production of financial statements including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, monthly management accounts, variance analysis and commentaries
  • Contribute to the production of the annual budget and periodic forecasting
  • Reconcile inter-company balances and resolve issues where necessary
  • Assist in the production of fortnightly cash flow and completion of weekly bank reconciliations.
  • Complete quarterly VAT returns
  • Assist in the production of annual statutory accounts
  • Report & monitor on major projects monthly
  • Report on capital expenditure against budget
  • Conduct full job & project costing for new and existing products
  • Monitor & update company assets and liabilities schedules
  • Complete monthly allocated balance sheet account reconciliations and review intangible assets
  • Intercompany reconciliations & revaluations

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ideally have 5 years’ experience working in a finance department
  • Part qualified accountant or qualified by experience
  • Practical knowledge of preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • Knowledge of assisting / preparing payroll
  • Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft with strong Excel skills
  • Skilled with financial systems
  • Demonstrate a commercial outlook
