Job Description

You should have experience or be keen to take on line-management of a finance apprentice and help them develop their career. The organization has recently been awarded multi million pounds worth of grants to develop services, so this is an excellent time to join and gain exposure to these projects. A new system implementation is also on the agenda, so there will lots of opportunity to develop skills.

  • Produce timely and accurate month end management accounts for the Charity and associated entities.
  • Work closely with senior managers to establish external project reporting mechanism and subsequent reconciliation, ensuring all projects are swiftly reconciled against funding guidelines. 
  • Ensure that all period-end tasks are completed within set timeframes and schedules.
  • Complete bank reconciliations, ensuring they are completed to the set timeframes and arranging any necessary fund transfers as required.
  • Responsible for the preparation and presentation of future budgets, forecasts and business cases that support business plan and growth strategy in your business areas.
  • Produce accurate and timely grant reconciliations.
  • Research and analyze data that supports pricing and charging across the organization.
  • Guide and support colleagues with accounting and budgeting advice that encourages learning and better financial acumen across the business.
  • Responsible for fixed asset register and depreciation for the Charity.
  • Preparation of partial exemption VAT returns.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • AAT qualified or working towards CIMA/ACCA/ACA or demonstrate competence through experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure, be organized and meet tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of the financial aspects of the not-for-profit charitable and cultural sector would be advantageous
  • Excellent ICT skills including advanced excel skills and Microsoft Office, with the ability to understand and report on business information and measures
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly with influence, in writing, verbally and numerically
  • Solutions-focused and able to concentrate on achieving priorities.
  • Has a strong customer focus and is dedicated to continually improving the finance service provided to all stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a commercial outlook
  • Full driving license with access to transport for work related purposes
