Job Description

Duties will require the exercise of particular skills and the use of independent judgment and initiative, the officer will need to be fully competent to provide a comprehensive and efficient service required within the Payroll Services Department.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of national regulations for Tax, NI, pensions and payroll
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience within Payroll/Pensions/HR
  • Knowledge of payroll and financial procedures
  • IT Literate and sound knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Understanding and experience of complex computerized payroll systems such as ESR or equivalent financial system
  • Good communicator – tactful, persuasive and diplomatic skills
  • Sound written skills
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Adaptable to new systems
  • Ability to prepare detailed payroll reports
  • Able to work to strict deadlines
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Demonstrates high integrity
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude to work
  • Ability to work under sustained pressure to meet fixed deadlines
  • Ability to work positively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Flexible approach to working hours to ensure accurate payments and payroll deadlines
