Job Description

We are looking for a friendly, approachable, and highly motivated individual who will perform their role in a calm and professional manner and provide full administration support to the sleep and ventilation team.

This is a busy and demanding role which requires a proactive and confident person. You will be able to communicate effectively with patients and hospital staff, be dedicated to delivering an excellent experience for the patient, you will be comfortable working in a dynamic and fast paced environment. You will work to high standard and pay attention to detail and accuracy and will have good written and oral communication skills as well as possessing excellent telephone communication skills.

You will be involved in ensuring that the next steps relating to planned administrative and clinical actions are in place including diagnostic and treatment pathways via booking, reviewing appointment outcomes and care plan progress which are communicated to our patients via telephone or letter, and to help the department achieve compliance.

You will be educated to GCSE grade C or above (including Math and English) or equivalent and be able to demonstrate excellent computer/IT skills to include Microsoft Office Packages. You must also have a minimum of 12 months secretarial or administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare setting but not essential as training will be provided.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Level 2 related vocational qualification e.g. NVQ or willingness to completed level 2 apprenticeship within 18 months of employment
  • Level 4 or above Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Math Grade A-C)
  • Full UK driving license and car owner
  • Care certificate
  • Full UK driving license and car owner
  • Good communication skills
  • The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post
  • Experience of working with members of the public or a desire to work in the Health Service
  • Understanding of routine work procedures gained through a short induction period and on the job training
  • Good IT Skills
  • Minimum 6 months previous admin experience – preferably in an NHS setting
  • Experience of working within a health or social care environment
  • Experience of working within a team
  • Experience working within the field of respiratory nursing
  • Experience delivering programmes of rehabilitation
  • Good organizational skills
  • Commitment to undertaking continuous professional development (CPD)
