Job Description

You'll support the production of data analysis and insight to support the development and execution of our Direct Motor trading strategy. You'll form part of a team that intersects Marketing, Pricing, Underwriting, right through to Operations, Claims and Risk. We're looking for someone who's highly collaborative, able to extract and analyze data, query external market and competitor datasets and develop data/insights to answer the most important questions faced by Retail. You'll shape how we track and interrogate performance data, create bespoke analysis to drive high quality trading/customer outcomes and dive deep into root cause analysis to inform decision making. 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading the extraction, analysis and reporting of all trading metrics to inform strategy, trading decisions and change initiatives.
  • Supporting delivery of trading reports developed using SAS, SQL, R, Python, DataBricks and Excel.
  • Leading data investigations on emerging issues to identify root cause and shape actions.
  • Producing and presenting data insight and learnings to commercial teams and wider business functions.
  • Collating information, data and market intelligence from multiple sources and create insight to optimize trading activities and support new strategies.
  • Reporting on trading performance and proactively deal with emerging issues or exploiting opportunities.
  • Proactively developing new strategies and initiatives from concept to commercialisation to drive the trading change agenda.
  • Supporting the trading forecasting, budget and retrospective analysis processes.
  • Potential to role model/line manage junior analyst.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven strong experience in an analytical/insight role.
  • Strong data analysis skills using SAS, SQL, R, Python, DataBricks and Excel.
  • Well experienced in preparation of reports, data, metrics which inform decision making.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence and data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qlikview, plus the ability to interrogate and analyze data.
  • Experience of working within a highly regulated sector with a good understanding of retail insurance, ideally standard motor insurance sectors.
  • Dashboard development skills using Microsoft Power BI and visualization tools.
  • Key analytical skills and methods enabling accuracy and interpretation of data.
  • Uses analytical approach to a problem to ensure rigor and accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, agile environment.
  • Interpersonal and relationship management skills.
