Designing and building a Clinical Coding strategy for the Surgery. This will include the development and introduction of a comprehensive and formal training and audit program.
Undertake regular reviews of clinical coding processes and develop introduce new procedures where necessary to improve coding practice over both sites.
Responsible for the abstraction, analysis and interpretation of highly complex clinical information found within patient’s health records, use judgement and knowledge in assigning the correct codes when the information provided is conflicting.
Translate and assign the most accurate clinical codes for diagnosis, co-morbidities and procedures undertaken for all discharged and transferred patients.
Ability to code all specialties at a high level of accuracy.
People Management - Provide expert advice to clinical and non-clinical staff with regards to complex clinical coding rules
Training - to develop the Clinical Coding Team and be prepared to design and deliver training to all staff in the team, to act as mentor and support.
Take a lead in designing and undertaking audits and the production of reports with analysis, conclusions and recommendations, along with creation of action plans
