Job Description
  • To Lead on the business requirements gathering, communication with technology teams and prioritisation for the following systems pertinent to Academic: A2R, Mantle, Salesforce, and Rightslink for Scientific Communications.
  • To provide Academic stakeholder representation on working group for other systems and governance groups across the Organisation.
  • Provide mentoring to other colleagues in the Business Analysis and Systems team in respect to the Academic systems in which they will represent/lead the Academic needs.
  • Work closely with technology colleagues to ensure requirements are clearly documented and understood and make recommendations for solutions in systems as appropriate.
  • Manage a team of system support staff in ensuring the key systems are maintained and that tickets raised for development are monitored and progressed in an appropriate and prioritised way.
  • Work with Key stakeholders to develop roadmaps for the systems in remit and ensure that these are made available to senior managers in an appropriate way.
  • Manage and contribute to the effectiveness of third-party relationships for technology suppliers and participate in contract negotiations where needed.
  • Deputise for the Head of Academic Business Analysis and Systems where needed on large scale projects and strategic operational improvement groups.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Able to demonstrate your experience in managing the business needs from a sales and distribution systems and your ability to plan for and build a strong reliable team.
  • A strong background in how technology processes work including agile development methodologies. Although this is not a technical role experience of being able to translate business requirements into a technical environment will be essential.
  • A 'people’ person - able to discuss systems problems with users who don’t have the vocabulary to diagnose a problem and also translate that problem for technical teams to resolve.
  • Organised, with a clear vision on how to document and develop processes for handling business requirements and development roadmaps and will have the capability to make fast prioritisation decisions.
  • The ability to demonstrate your past ability to make decisions when senior managers are not available and show your past responsibility for managing technical incidents is an appropriate way.
  • You will be able to show your capability to communicate with stakeholders from across the department in a variety of roles. It will be expected that you will represent the Business Analysis and Systems team in key senior meetings.
