Job Description

Reporting into the CEO as well as the Chairman as a key stakeholder, this role plays a vital role in the strategic and operational management of the Club. As a member of the Club’s Leadership Team, this role will drive the business forward through leading and managing the Finance team (of six) to ensure the Club meets all of its financial obligations.

Main Accountabilities

· To work closely with the CEO by providing strong and effective financial analysis to ensure the timely and accurate provision of financial information to support ongoing business operations and provide decision support to internal stakeholders

· To represent the Club with external stakeholders including football bodies, Auditors, Banking partners, commercial partners, suppliers and local community agencies

· Ensure financial practices are efficient, robust and compliant with statutory regulations and legislation

· Take overall responsibility for Club financial management policies, annual audit, statutory accounts and tax reporting as well as any filings with Companies and Football Governing bodies

· To work with Club management to prepare annual budgets, cash flows and to prepare periodic forecast updates

· Prepare longer term financial planning models and stakeholder reporting and communications

· Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely delivery of monthly management accounts, variance reports and commentary and presentation at the monthly Board meeting

· To take full control of treasury management including control over match-day income and day to day banking requirements

· To lead all banking relationships and manage any financial requirements of the Club

General Club Accountabilities

· To ensure compliance with all relevant Club policies, including health and safety policies and with specific reference to the data regulations (GDRP and PECR)

· To ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements

· To build and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally, maintaining a professional image at all times when representing Brentford FC

· To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Club and its personnel

· To maintain a flexible approach to work at all times

Person Specification - Essential Personal Characteristics

· Suitably qualified, preferably ACA or equivalent

· Previous exposure to a similar level role in a comparable industry and working environment

· Demonstrable leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate a team to ensure full delivery

· Passion for process improvement and delivering accurate and timely financial information

· High personal integrity, openness, commitment and flexibility

· Strong communication skills


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Previous exposure to a similar role within a football Club · Good working knowledge of finance-related IT systems
