Job Description

We are looking to recruit a motivated, professional, caring and compassionate individual, who will work as part of the dialysis unit team providing a high level of administrative support.

You must have outstanding customer service skills, be dedicated and courteous. You will have had previous administration experience, reception skills would be advantageous, excellent verbal and written communication skills and keyboard skills together with knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Previous hospital experience and knowledge of PAS would be highly desirable, however training can be provided.

You will need to work efficiently, calm & accurately under pressure. You must be able to deal with sensitive & confidential issues, be a team player and ready for the challenge that this demanding, but rewarding role will present. You will be able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team in a supervisory capacity, and be able to anticipate the needs of patients and staff.

The post holder will co-ordinate the daily attendance of patients to the Renal Unit providing administrative support to the dialysis team as well as a wide range of clerical duties including reception duties, management of resources, stock, invoices, shift recording, information management and patient enquiries.

The Renal Service is a large and busy working environment, managing regular attending patients for dialysis as well outpatient renal services and day case procedures. Each day brings new and exciting challenges.

You will have a varied but enjoyable workload liaising with staff of all levels. Some travel to our satellite units may be required.

Services across the Renal Units are open from 6.30am to 11.00pm Monday to Saturday.

This is a full time post, 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Business Administration NVQ 3 or relevant qual/experience
  • GCSE in Math and English or equivalent
  • Previous office experience
  • Experience of dealing with the general public
  • Minimum of 1 year working within NHS
