Job Description

You needs to be a motivated individual who is a very accurate completer finisher who thrives in a busy team environment. This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to expand their accounting skills in management accounting field who will play a key support role to support the Senior Management Accountant in the Transport business.

  • Production of overhead reports and commenting on the variances providing full variance analysis (under & over recoveries)
  • Preparation of monthly pre-contract review and effective communication with account director on monthly results.
  • Review of utilization reports and understanding on major variance factors and communicating this back to contract managers and Senior Management Accountant.
  • Managing the month end process by working closely with contract management and project management team to derive the monthly results.
  • Tracking WIP and ensuring prompt billing to reduce the cash cycle
  • Assisting with producing latest views monthly and comparing to prior forecasts.
  • Forecasting fixed, variable, and semi-variable costs on overhead cost centre by liaising with the functional heads.
  • Supporting with the annual rates build-up and annual overhead budget setting process.
  • Submitting quarterly overheads forecasts and reconciling back to each cost centre.
  • Challenging overspend or unexpected costs against forecast and budget and ensuring its being allocated correctly.
  • Inventory management, making provision for slow moving stock as necessary.
  • Invoice forecasting and debtors review for central FP&A
  • Extensive use of Oracle on a day-to-day basis as well month end processing including journal entries & Hubble to run reports as and when required
  • Allocating orders between firm, frame and forecast categories for full year forecast
  • Assist with audit queries
  • Dealing with ad-hoc queries.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience working in an accounting role preferably in a contracting environment.
  • Self-motivated
  • Good communicator
  • Able to manage heavy workload & strict deadlines
  • Experience of managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail
  • Oracle desirable
  • AAT/CIMA/ACCA part qualified
  • Minimum 5 GCSE’s grade A-C with at least B in Mathematics
