Job Description

This role would suit a recent graduate with an accounting or economic stream university degree with at least 12 months experience in a finance or accounting role. The accountant will perform various accounting tasks to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Account for and process financial statements and reports under supervision to accurately reflect the company’s financial results and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards.

  • Support the preparation, analysis and distribution of monthly management reports including operational reports, statistics and other financial management results, ensuring reconciliation and accurate variance analysis.
  • Identify and analyze any material exceptions to forecast and plan against actuals, and support the preparation of the corresponding commentary.
  • Contribute to the preparation of economic and sales forecasts and period adjustments, collating and analyzing information.
  • Conduct research pertaining to the application of appropriate data and processing methods and analysis, recording and reporting of financial information to support informed decision making.
  • Support data quality and integrity of monthly management reports including Planning Budgeting Forecasting, Business Unit Reporting, Commercial Assessments and operational reports.
  • Prepare ad hoc management reports upon management’s request.
  • Provide input into the definition of new management reporting requirements and provide guidance throughout the build activities as required.
  • Contribute to various financial accounting tasks and financial statement preparation reflecting earnings, profits, cash balances and other financial results to ensure compliance with approved accounting standards.
  • Support internal and external reporting to ensure consistency, accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting to achieve regulatory and business outcomes.
  • Provide customer service for any enquiries received from the business in relation to the Financial Accounting and Reporting activities, maintain effective customer relationships, and raise any escalated issues to direct reports.
  • Ensure compliance with the Financial Accounting and Reporting policies and procedures, and proactively identify and raise non-compliant issues with the direct report.
  • Day to day administration and preparation of financial transactions, reconciliations and statistics relating to but limited to fixed assets, balance sheet clearing accounts, inter-company charges, VAT and payroll to ensure compliance with approved accounting standards and maintenance of general ledger integrity and accuracy.
  • Deliver monthly reconciliations in line with group established timeframes
  • Work closely with business unit finance teams & other Finance Accounting teams to resolve reconciling items and enquiries received from the business in relation to general ledger items.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to increase networks and allow for the exchange of information.
  • Manage data quality and integrity of output for monthly Financial Accounting results.
  • Identify and report continuous improvement initiatives in relation to the Accounting and Reporting processes and systems.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • University degree qualified with Accounting or Finance streams strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience with credit and debit reconciliation, journal entry and posting.
  • Ability to act and operate independently with daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives.
  • Organized, ability to multi-task and priorities workload.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to make the complex simple in pursuit of clear deliverables.
  • Excellent attention to detail and customer service focus essential
