Job Description
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key Finance staff within UK and European branches and third party providers.
  • Liaison with Finance, Reinsurance, Actuarial and Compliance departments.
  • Ensuring accurate, timely and appropriate reporting in line with internal and external timelines and guidance.
  • Assist the Group finance reporting team with the Group monthly reporting cycle, including support with management accounts, reporting to Japanese parent, implementation of changes to IFRS reporting as appropriate.
  • Posting journals for IFRS, reinsurance and IBNR.
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations for assigned UK subsidiaries, and support and monitor the balance sheet reconciliations performed by branches.
  • Assist with both Internal Audit and control assessments and review visits.
  • Assist in the external audit process, including preparing information for external auditors and responding to external audit queries.
  • Support with ad-hoc Finance projects and work as required.
  • Deliver work to a consistent high standard and meet tight reporting deadlines, offer support to other Finance team members.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Practical experience of general insurance accounting is essential.
  • Previous experience in Solvency II reporting and statutory reporting would be advantageous.
  • Proven track record of working within a deadline driven environment.
  • A self-starter, with good attention to detail and internal control.
  • Part-qualified ACCA/CIMA accountant or significant practical accounting experience.
  • Good Excel skills (Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP) and experience of managing large volumes of data.
  • Large accounting system knowledge and experience, SUN and Q&A reporting tool knowledge preferred.
  • Fluent French would be advantageous.
