Job Description

The role will support the provision of a valued, efficient and effective competition finance business function. This will include participating in effective budgetary control and efficient operation of rules and guidance relating to the use of public finances and require effective collaboration with stakeholders including Finance Business Partners, Commercial and the wider Finance Team. Using your own specialist competition financial skills and expertise you will provide support, advice and constructively challenge decisions to policy stakeholders. You will be expected to routinely provide support around the more complex or strategic issues and to develop effective and trusted relationships with your stakeholders.

  • Provide a technical understanding of Finance Risk and Mitigation
  • Undertaking High Risk Supplier Financial Risk Evaluation and contributing to the development and maintenance of a robust supplier financial health process
  • Working with Stakeholders to agree, implement and on-going monitoring of financial risk mitigation actions
  • Financial Risk Mitigations in procurement competitions at Design, Build and Evaluation stages
  • Inputting into development of Stakeholder practices and procedures to systematically mitigate financial risk
  • Contributing to report drafting to Senior Finance Management
  • Lead on day-to-day supplier financial health risk evaluations and ensure the appropriate risk assurance assessments are completed
  • Liaise and collaborate across the organization to deliver risk mitigation and contribute to influencing senior managers and stakeholders to improve recognition and management of financial risk
  • Build financial and commercial awareness of non-finance staff within the business
  • Contribute to the development of finance operating models e.g. In Depth Supplier Reviews
  • Build on strong technical and accounting skills and present complex financial information to a variety of audiences

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Qualified/Part Qualified Accountants or candidates working towards an Accountancy qualification provided the candidate has the skills and experience for this role
  • Strong excel and data presentation skills
  • Ability to self-manage priorities, identify issues and solutions based on business requirements
  • In-depth understanding of commercial finance including, for example, commercial insight to secure best value for money on commercial agreements and mitigate financial risks for Dept
  • Previous experience in Financial Risk Identification and Evaluation
