Job Description

This post holder is responsible for providing administrative support for the University’s academic quality assurance processes in relation to the student experience and the delivery of programmes. The post holder will be required to be proactive and flexible in delivering support to academics and students, be able to operate under pressure. The purpose of the job description is to indicate the general level of responsibility: the duties may vary from time to time without changing the general character or level of responsibility.

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:

  • To provide consistent administrative support for processes designed to deliver programmes and for student engagement with teaching and assessment in accordance with planned schedules and deadlines.
  • To support the international cohorts undertaking specified programmes, and to undertake activities to monitor students’ progress.
  • To support the academic quality-related administrative processes related to attendance and engagement, assessment and results.
  • To process amendments to student records.
  • To develop a thorough understanding of the rules and regulations related to student administration, curriculum structures and assessments.
  • To assist in the provision of data as required.
  • To assist with student-related events as required.
  • To assist with the Board of Examiners as required 
  • To input student-related and assessment data accurately into the Student Record System in accordance with University procedures and regulations. 
  • To provide a professional and consistent service to students, academics, internal and external stakeholders.
  • To maintain effective communication with the student body through a variety of channels.
  • To attend relevant meetings as appropriate and take notes as required.
  • To be actively engaged with internal working groups and to proactively implement agreed process changes within the University.
  • To adopt and demonstrate behaviors aligned to the University’s values.
  • There may be a requirement for these duties to be carried out across different sites within the University.
  • To undertake any other duties working flexibly across the Academic Registry commensurate with the grade of the post, as required by the line manager and Academic Registrar.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

You must be organized, have a good eye for detail, be able to priorities workloads as appropriate and be able to operate under pressure in a fast-moving and changing environment. As a first point of contact for staff, students and visitors you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills for dealing with enquiries in person, by telephone and by email. You will have a good standard of education, excellent organizational skills, be used to working to deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and be able to work within existing administrative procedures. You will be able to demonstrate good IT skills and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, Word Excel & Outlook and will be responsible for updating student records using designated software. You will need to be self-motivated, and also be able to work as part of a team. Good administrative experience is essential, and a positive and flexible outlook would be an advantage.
