Job Description

To provide an efficient and responsive service that supports the finance team by performing key accounting tasks that maintain the integrity of the books and records.

  • Roll-forward Group’s quarterly management accounts for review by Company Secretary and Director of Shareholder Reporting and Group Financial Controller
  • Preparing quarterly management accounts for lender reporting
  • Overall responsibility for the “Corporate” elements of the Group management accounts which involves ensuring all postings and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations are prepared accurately and in line with Group timetables including the following:
    • Calculation and posting of accruals and prepayments for administrative costs
    • Posting of quarter-end cost of sales journal entries
    • Posting sales and purchase ledger offset adjustments
    • Posting and correcting intercompany journal entries
    • Manage fixed asset register and calculation and posting of quarterly depreciation journals and fixed asset acquisitions and disposals
  • Business partner with various teams to ensure that annual operating budgets for allocated nominal codes are prepared accurately and in line with agreed timetables
  • Ensure that budgets are robustly supported in time for challenge during Group budget review processes
  • Provide timely and relevant commentary against actuals for the Group’s quarterly management accounts review process
  • Monitoring all Corporate invoices for appropriate coding, VAT treatment and verify that they are supported by valid tax invoices
  • Reviewing employee expenses/credit cards expenses, checking against company policy and processing for payment
  • Produce statutory accounts using Case ware Working Papers
  • iXBRL tagging of accounts once all have been signed
  • Assist with other day to day activities of the finance function and ensure the integrity of the ledgers and associated systems.
  • Fostering key relationships between the finance team and other areas of the business
  • Undertake additional relevant duties which fall under the general scope of the role, as directed by your Manager, raising any issues with capacity so they can be properly managed.
  • Participate in the full year and half year Performance Development Review process as reviewer and review, meeting the standards and timescales required by the Company.
  • At all times ensure that your understanding and skill level regarding the Company’s IT systems are up to date, as applicable to your role. Undertake IT training as required to ensure full and proper use of the available technology.

  • Work within the Company’s policies and procedures, governance framework and standards, as detailed on the Company’s intranet.

  • Use materials and resources effectively and efficiently to minimize waste and always consider the impact of potential actions alongside our Sustainability policies and goals before taking business decisions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • IT literate with intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills, organization and attention to detail
  • Property or construction industry experience would be beneficial but not essential
  • Proven experience of supporting a busy finance team
  • Ability to manage a busy workload with multiple stakeholders
