Job Description

You'll have accountability for all technical accounting matters within the function, including store closure accounting, store impairments, lease accounting and provisions. 

• Detailed analytical reviews of the store closure cost models, retail impairment models and other key controls.
• You will review the outputs, ensuring the numbers are right and “tell the story” behind the numbers to senior business partners
• Ensuring the end to end store closure cost model are run accurately and delivered to internal time frames for Year End, Half Year, monthly Property Committee, month end and budgeting and outturn purposes.
• You will collaborate closely with the Property Commercial Finance and Retail cost teams to ensure inputs to the model are received in line with project timelines and that the Reporting and Analytics team run the models on time.
• Accountability for day to day management of tasks associated with the store closure costs and retail impairment models to external auditors, tax and Group Reporting at Half Year, Year End and statutory accounts
• Financial, planning and analysis experience as well as Group Reporting/Technical accounting
• Experience in managing relationships with external business partners, such as auditors
• Property experience, including managing a large and complex commercial property portfolio
• Exposure to Commercial Finance teams and data analytics

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Qualified Accountant
• Background in technical accounting and strong knowledge of IAS 16, IAS 36, IAS 37 and IFRS 16
• Attention to detail and a control mentality
• Able to confidently and efficiently deliver complex processes and projects with multiple business partners
• Working knowledge of big data packages, such as Alteryx (desirable)
