Job Description

You will work closely with departments across the business to report and analyze on business performance.

• Month end close activities for Legal entity including revenue recognition, accruals and prepayments and inventory valuation
• Oversee standard costing, variance reporting and stock reconciliation and valuation
• Oversee customer rebates process
• Support the team with their work on Manufacturing productivity
• Key contributor to audit, statutory accounts and corporation tax compliance.
• Ensuring the overall accuracy of the accounting for manufacturing
• Oversee accounting for production and overhead activities:
  • Maintenance of standard costs including setting appropriate activity rates and overhead percentages
  • Ensuring adequate financial control over stock
  • Timely month end close for stock
  • Calculation of stock provisions
• Oversee revenue recognition process:
  • Ensure processes for recording and paying rebates are robust
  • Make month end postings for deferred revenue
• Group Reporting using SAP/Hyperion:
  • Posting journals relating to certain cost types
  • General review of numbers, including participation in finance team month end results review meeting
  • Preparing supplementary schedules for the UK
  • Relevant balance sheet reconciliations
• Audit, tax compliance and preparation of statutory accounts
  • assist in preparing for audit
  • prepare statutory accounts
  • assist with corporation tax compliance
• Investigate queries on the actual number raised by the team

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to understand complex accounting concepts, particularly marginal costing vs full recovery
• Intellectual curiosity and willingness to challenge perceived wisdom
• A qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) with strong accounting experience.
• Experience of accounting in a complex manufacturing environment would be very beneficial as would experience working with SAP
• Ability to work accurately to tight deadlines
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with ability to influence stakeholders up to middle management
• Excellent data manipulation skills, including advance use of MS Excel and ability to extract and manipulate data from various systems.
• Comfortable adopting a flexible approach needed for the team to meet tight month end deadlines
• Able to explain the overall performance whilst maintaining a thorough understanding of the detail
