Job Description
- Contributes to the governance of funding, investing and analytics of the balance sheet.
- Participates in managing liquidity and interest rate risk, the capital/legal entity structure and capital planning
- Recommends, obtains consensus, manages and implements complex strategic initiatives both within Treasury as well as across group to identify opportunities for advancing business return objectives while ensuring all regulatory and liquidity and capital standards are maintained.
- Strategic initiatives must consider the impact on and interaction between multiple financial and franchise related considerations.
- Such considerations include liquidity constraints, interest rate risk management, capital management, business returns, operational capabilities and regulatory appropriateness.
- Recommends, sets and monitors liquidity, interest rate risk and balance sheet limits
- Supports legal entity Treasurers in their interactions with regulators, on “as needed” basis
- Regularly presents to the firm’s most senior executives.
- Engages and collaborates with multiple teams across group to coordinate the implementation of best-in-class systemic infrastructure capabilities associated with liquidity and capital management and legal entity optimization.
- Oversees one or more teams of employees and will be responsible for goal setting, performance measurement and performance management of the team.
- Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding group, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
- Sets strategy for management of the Balance Sheet across the region and disciplined practices in managing treasury risk exposures
- Provides advisory service on treasury strategy and support Country-specific discussions
- Provides product, customer and geographic businesses with risk identification, risk management, product development and funding strategy through appropriate transfer pricing of both interest and liquidity risks and the Regional Treasurer
- Monitoring of resultant liquidity, interest rate and currency risks, adhering to buffers, limits, triggers and reporting integrity, of local and global minimum requirements.
- Evaluation of activities with all businesses to ensure regulatory and local rating agency requirements are met with respect to balance sheet, liquidity, interest rate and capital measurements
- Communication to Regional Treasurer of accurate and timely information about material balance sheet exposure, changes, and issues.
- Work across the region to establish transparency over most efficient booking model from balance sheet, liquidity, and capital perspective
- Team management – directly manage a team of legal entity treasurers
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 10+ years of work experience in Treasury across bank and broker dealer entities is a pre-requisite
- Fluency in regulatory framework a must – understanding of other regulatory requirements (UK/US/Switzerland) and advantage
- Analytical background with problem solving skills and an ability to assimilate information across a variety of financial disciplines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to converse with a wide variety of people across functions / seniority.
- Proven track record of senior stakeholder management, working in a high-pressure environment and maintaining active communication with relevant business partners
