Provide practical and emotional support to victims of crime over the telephone, signposting to partners where deemed appropriate.
Develop and deliver tailored victim recovery plans, utilizing, where appropriate, a case management system.
Champion and advocate for victim care with provision to provide specialist assessment and intervention.
Support colleagues and partner agencies, through awareness raising and institutional advocacy, to provide the best possible service for victims of crime.
Have experience with victims of Domestic Abuse (DA) and provide a pro-active, short to medium term crisis intervention service through individual safety planning and personal support for low and medium risk DA. Identify and assess the risks and needs of Domestic Abuse victims by using an evidence-based risk identification checklist.
Maintain accurate records ensuring timely updates to case management system.
Manage a complex and varied caseload / portfolio of cases that will often be at different stages within the process / recovery timeline.
Identify and refer any potential special measure cases to the CPS lawyer/caseworker to enable an application at court to be authorized. Liaise with external agencies, such as Witness Service, ensuring they have appropriate information on victim attendance at court.
Liaise and negotiate with court listings and CPS to ensure that the needs of victim are considered whenever possible when trials are arranged.
Ensure that the victim is updated on the case’s progress throughout the criminal justice process in a timely manner.
