Job Description
  • Forecasting and budgeting of cost Centre spend, together with the allocations out to the businesses
  • Liaising with cost Centre managers to fully understand cost base and headcount to ensure that actuals, forecasts and budgets are accurate
  • Clear reporting and effective commentary of direct costs & allocations, including variance analysis, to enable Support management and Group to fully understand costs
  • Assisting leadership with budget and other presentations
  • Month end processes including checking accuracy of entries and posting of accruals, prepayments and cost allocation journals; ensuring month end deadlines are hit
  • Cost related Balance sheet management & reconciliation
  • Review of allocations, understanding & loading of allocation drivers and ensuring allocations are run correctly each month
  • Completion of month end, including reconciliations, journals and accruals.
  • Ensuring that all costs are accounted for consistently and according to group policies as well as compliant with IFRS principles
  • Invoice coding & control
  • Other reporting including direct cost, allocations & headcount across the bank
  • Other ad-hoc cost accounting tasks as required (e.g. transaction reporting of vendor invoices & expense claims, catering recharges)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Fully qualified accountant CIMA, ACCA or ACA Accountant (or qualified by experience/part qualified) (essential)
  • Degree educated (advantageous)
  • Previous experience in Financial Services; broad banking product knowledge (advantageous)
  • Intermediate /Advance MS Excel skills (essential)
  • Knowledge of JDE and Essbase (highly desirable)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Pro-active with a strong work ethic
  • Able to manage detailed processes without losing sight of the big picture
  • Strong relationship management skills, able to influence and build rapport
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, complex and changing environment
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team, across the entire financial and accounting spectrum
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure, managing conflicting priorities
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and assimilate information
