Job Description
  • Coordinate period end for the Faculty, calculating and processing adjustments and deliver regular financial management reporting requirements of academic Departments and Faculty Office.
  • Support the Senior Management Accountant in coordinating the annual planning round and subsequent in year forecasts; supporting Departments to develop plans
  • Support the development of high-quality management reporting that aligns with the College Contribution Model and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare analysis and reports that enable the Faculty management to effectively challenge costs and inform decision-making
  • Review the accuracy and legitimacy of recorded financial transactions and related reports.
  • Assist the Faculty Finance Officer with the development and presentation of business plans and financial models to improve financial performance.
  • Contribute to the Annual Report and Accounts by incorporating the in-year narrative reporting of the College’s performance into the Finance Review section.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A recognized accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA)
  • Management accounting experience within a large and complex organization
  • Experience of liaising with senior operational leadership to develop financial plans and monitor financial performance
  • A detailed understanding of financial management, control and administration within a large organization
  • An understanding of the wider financial environment of the College and Higher Education
  • Ability to effectively translate accounting knowledge and theory to working practices
  • Ability to input, review, analyze and interpret data accurately, with a high level of attention to detail, to support financial management and decision-making
  • Proven team-working skills
  • Confident and effective communicator (in verbal and written form), with an ability to develop professional relationships with colleagues at all levels within the College
  • Effective influencing skills, with the ability to challenge where appropriate
