To manage the operational (transactional) processes within the Finance Office on a day to day basis, providing and interpreting financial information as required.
To be responsible for the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes including the receipt of student funding.
To be responsible for the payroll process including effective liaison with HR.
To be responsible for the preparation and submission of statutory returns, including but not limited to VAT and other HMRC returns, pension related returns, etc.
To develop external relationships with appropriate contacts, e.g. auditors, solicitors, bankers and statutory organisations such as the Inland Revenue
To be the key contact for internal and external Auditors, in conjunction with the Finance Manager - Analysis & Reporting, ensuring that accurate information is collated and provided in line with agreed timescales.
To lead on the day to day management of the pension arrangements.
To manage the day to day aspects of the insurance arrangements.
To be responsible for identifying potential risks and ensuring the integrity and suitability of the control mechanisms in order to ensure the probity of all financial transactions.
To contribute to the formulation of strategic and long-term business plans and manage specific projects as allocated by the Head of Finance, engaging with key stakeholders across the University as necessary.
To attend key internal and external networks and committees as required, to maintain relevant knowledge and ensure a culture of continuous improvement in the department.
Profile
Candidates wishing to apply to the role should:
Have previously worked in a similar role
Have previously managed a team of finance employees
Have knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Have the ability to build internal and external relationships
Have knowledge of Payroll (desirable)

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary paying between £40,000-£50,000 dependent on previous experience.
