Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic senior accountant to join our busy finance department. You will be the lead responsible officer for maintaining and enhancing the Council’s accounting IT systems and also provide finance support principally to committee.

In this role, you will have exposure to a wide variety of areas and an opportunity to widen your experience in a fast moving organization. You should have proven accounting experience and be proficient using financial management information systems, setting budget estimates, budget monitoring and closing of accounts. The minimum requirement is to be either CIPFA/CCAB/CIMA qualified or finalist - if finalist, the Council would consider supporting your final studies to achieve full qualification. You should be able to organize, plan and deliver work to tight deadlines and to lead on key aspects of the annual financial cycle. In addition, you will have a sound technical knowledge, along with excellent communication skills as you will be required to provide financial advice to designated parts of the Council.

Additionally you will be confident in your ability to work on your own initiative; to be a team player and to cope with the competing work demands in a methodical and a calm manner.
