Job Description

The Lead Production Controller is responsible for all deliverables processed through the pre-press and production workflows, including digital delivery to products and hardcopy generation and distribution to end customers. This role plays a key part in the final stages of our content delivery and has shared accountability with colleagues across the Knowledge Solutions division to achieve the KPI targets which support optimal delivery of standards and non-standards content to our commercial channels and therefore top collaboration and communication skills are essential.

The Lead Production Controller is the guardian of quality control and so a sharp eye for detail and the ability to prioritise a busy schedule are essential. This role involves strict supplier management and monitoring, including costs for new projects, work schedules, quality control of the end deliverables, turnaround times, general problem solving, and invoice approval for the suppliers engaged to support the Production workflows.

The Lead Production Controller is responsible for freelancer, technical author, and consultant contract management, including IR35 compliance checks, and will liaise with our Legal team, where required, to support colleagues across the department with a responsive, accurate, and timely service.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Content publishing experience within the information/ publishing industry.

· Proven supplier engagement and performance management experience.

· Quality assurance of pre-press, and hardcopy deliverables.

· Able to manage multiple projects and schedules simultaneously.

· Knowledge of IR35 legislation would be a bonus.

· Experience in negotiation (financial, contractual) would be a bonus

· IT proficient
