Job Description

You will be responsible for managing and reporting our high growth charity clients’ commercial, financial, and accounting activities whilst building strong client relationships at Exec and Trustee level; as well as providing solutions to operational and governance challenges without having to get involved in the day-to-day oversight.

A typical day will look like:

  • Maintaining regular dialogue and contact across the client base
  • Attend client meetings on a regular basis
  • Oversee and support the creation of reports to identify results, fund management, and financial forecasts for both the Exec Team and for the Board and its sub-committees
  • Personally prepare and ensure the clients’ accounts team(s) prepare monthly management information relevant to the client on a timely basis, including managing cash flows and fund reporting
  • With the help of Sedulo’s other departments, such as tax (including Creative Industry Tax Relief specialists), audit, funding and governance leads, provide a holistic offering to the company and its directors’
  • Review clients’ financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities
  • Identify opportunities or threats to clients and assisting with taking advantage or mitigating them
  • Create bespoke client systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations, as well as improving internal efficiencies and standards of reporting
  • Additional controller duties as necessary

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Qualified in ACCA / ACA / CIMA or QBE or equivalent
  • Proven working experience at Financial Controller level within charities
  • Robust combined accounting and finance experience
  • Thorough knowledge of Charity SORP accounting principles and potential charity tax issues
  • Experience with creating financial statements (statutory and internal)
  • Experience of working with funder applications and reporting
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • A personable and sociable outlook with a strong desire to help our charity clients achieve the best possible outcomes for their beneficiaries
