Job Description

Responsible for finance related statutory and regulatory reporting and compliance, and production of relevant and timely group level business management information, budgeting and forecasting and management of the Group finance team. To manage and oversee the day-to-day activities of the Group finance function and ensure the integrity of the Group’s ledgers and associated systems

  • Production of timely, accurate and robust financial information for internal and external reporting. 
  • Responsibility for the system of internal financial controls, ensuring they are well-documented, robust and operating correctly.
  • Lead on all technical accounting matters for the Group, preparing accounting policies and papers where necessary. 
  • Drive the preparation of quarterly Group management accounts and other financial management information, including for transactions.
  • Overall responsibility for the production of the Group’s Annual Report and Accounts and related compliance matters, including subsidiary and joint venture statutory accounts. 
  • To assist with the production and development of the company business plan, forecasts and budgets
  • Manage the relationship with the external auditors throughout the year, including the annual audit and audit of the many subsidiary and joint venture statutory accounts (c.150 companies). 
  • Group finance representative on the transactions team for acquisitions, disposals, corporate restructuring, refinancing and joint ventures including accounting and tax issues, negotiating terms and reviewing legal documentation where appropriate.
  • Liaison with tax department on tax planning and compliance and indirect tax, including VAT, SDLT and CIS compliance. 
  • Overall responsibility for maintenance and development of Corporate financial information systems (Access Dimensions, Focalpoint, Veco), including drafting outline and detailed specifications, managing upgrades and development, testing, integration and user training.
  • Also includes day-to-day systems housekeeping and in-built controls (including authorization processes and limits).
  • Manage and develop the Group finance team including performance reviews and regular one-to-one sessions, identifying training needs and ensuring individual personal development and career progression aspirations are met.
  • Develop a culture of empowerment throughout the team ensuring that all employees take responsibility for their work and outputs.
