Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Director of this role is a key contributor in ensuring business compliance in relation to export regulations. The duties include but aren't limited to:

  • Check input and output data for export licence and advice applications and interact with internal and external collaborators for any issues
  • Prepare and submit export licence and export advice applications
  • Monitoring and review of results from denied party screening software
  • Routine Inspection of export documentation and records to export control legislation
  • Auditing of internal processes, CRM and ERP system to export control processes and Oxford Nanopore export control policy
  • Train and update internal teams and external agents on export control restrictions
  • Input and maintain accurate records for all export control activities
  • Draft and obtain approval for updates to the export control procedures and policy

Working closely alongside the Associate Director QA the successful applicant will support with:

  • Monitoring of current embargoes and sanctions for both UK and USA regulations
  • Manage sales, shipping, storage and record management for control products
  • Support to sales, customer services, logistics and supply chain with any export control queries
  • Hosting export control audits
  • Identify licence requirements for control product to specific locations
  • Routine rating review of Oxford Nanopore products
  • Monitor changes to international export controls, communicate and implement change of policy with export control committee and legal team.
  • Prepare export control metrics
  • Actively promote continuous improvement of processes for compliance to export control legislation

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The candidate will be educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a Scientific or Technical field and trained in export control licensing and export control lists. An understanding of US re-export restrictions would be a bonus but is not essential.

A minimum of 3 years proven experience in an organisation involved in sale of control goods and sale into embargoed countries, of which at least 2 years should be in direct export control related activities.

Close attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.

Good team player with customer focus, demonstrated a sense of urgency to resolve issues as they arise.

Highly self-motivated person with excellent communication, organisational, problem solving and negotiation influencing skills.

Be highly collaborative and able to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment.

Excellent interpersonal/written communication skills; can interact effectively with all levels of management and with team members of different technical and business areas.
