Job Description

The focus of this role is analysis and assessment. It requires established technical expertise and acts with a considerable degree of autonomy. Interaction is mainly internal and largely focused on presenting very complex information and sophisticated solutions to colleagues at senior level. The role holder manages their own time and workload effectively and has some input to policy and technical decisions for their area of expertise.

To deliver the analysis phases of Platform Solutions projects & programmes. To produce requirements deliverables in accordance with the methodology being used to deliver a project, both waterfall and agile methodologies. To follow rigorous processes to ensure that analysis deliverables, typically business requirements or user stories, are fit for purpose for project delivery. To engage with project stakeholders and third party suppliers to ensure effective project delivery. To support testing of IT solutions to enable agile delivery, including but not limited to the production of robust acceptance criteria. Directly contribute to the improvement of IT processes and services via proposals for service enhancement for the benefit of all internal customer areas.

Have responsibility for the analysis of small to medium projects and be responsible for analysis deliverables within larger or more complex projects. Business Analysts will also be required to support testing according to project needs. Responsible for planning the analysis activities of a project and for progress reporting on analysis work, risk & issue management, change control impact assessment and stakeholder reporting / issue resolution. From time to time may involve working with 3rd party suppliers and partners at a senior level.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to understand and solve complex business issues and understand the impact on the business of proposed solutions
  • Experienced in business process modelling
  • A working knowledge of delivering business & IT change
  • Demonstrable experience of working as a business analyst as a part of an agile team
  • Collaborative attitude and experience of helping multi-disciplinary teams to deliver user-focused products and services, using Agile methodology
  • Understanding and experience of at least one structured project methodology and working practice
  • Knowledge of and experience of creating EPIC’s, user stories & use cases
  • Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Visio, Access)
  • Experience of complex system architectures involving the integration of multiple systems (including third parties)
  • Commercial awareness of one or more of the following products Collective Investments, Investment Trusts, Equities, Bonds and Pensions
  • Working knowledge of Investment Platforms
  • A strong effective communicator (both verbal and written) with the ability to manage a diverse group of stakeholders and build strong relationships across various business areas.
  • An Entrepreneurial mindset, being inquisitive and open minded looking deconstruct and solve problems and figure out why things happen.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to GCSE level as a minimum, preferably graduate or equivalent
  • ISEB or other qualifications in Business Analysis is desirable
