Job Description
- Maintenance of appropriate accounting records which give an accurate picture, at any given time, of the financial position of the Firm and which comply with statutory requirements, accounting standards and industry best practice.
- Processing of monthly journals.
- Balance sheet reconciliation preparation and self-review.
- Analytical reviews and commentary.
- In co-operation with the Company’s auditors, assist with the preparation of the annual accounts of the Company in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Assist with the completion of FCA regulatory reporting.
- Support in any activity and/or specific project work required.
- Authorize office and client payments
- Assist in cash flow reporting within the Segment
- Represent the Firm with clients, agents, suppliers and other organizations.
- Comply with relevant legal, regulatory and Firm compliance requirements, Errors and Omissions (E&O) compliance procedures and quality initiatives.
- Escalate any potential E&O's to Head of Finance and the Legal & Compliance team at the earliest opportunity.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic understanding and knowledge of general financial accounting principles and in particular the rules applicable to accounting for insurance intermediaries.
- Basic understanding of the law and practice of general insurance.
- Ability to organize work effectively
- Ability to priorities and organize own workload to ensure that deadlines are adhered to and targets are met.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to liaise with colleagues when appropriate.
- Ability to develop and sustain relationships with both internal and external customers.
- Ability to construct effective written communications.
- Confident and effective oral communication skills.
- IT Skills: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Sun and Oracle Financials
- Part Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant. Alternatively fully qualified AAT.
