Job Description

Additional Duties

  • Regularly review, departmental team training needs and operational improvements in line with policies and procedures
  • To cover colleagues as and when required
  • Work in other locations of the Company as and when required but within your capability to support the needs of the business

Main responsibilities

  • To maintain an excellent working knowledge of and work proactively in accordance with all current and anticipated legislative requirements and best practice in accordance with the transport and fenestration industries.
  • Understand and meet the company's Operating Licence obligations ensuring that appropriate controls and procedures are enforced.
  • Oversee vehicle management, including, safe vehicle operations, wheel security and monitor vehicle gross weights
  • Maintain and develop their FORS (Fleet Operations Recognition Scheme) accreditation and standards
  • Ensure the team and department are run in an efficient and effective system meeting the production schedule, legal compliance, quality parameters and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure the transport team follow the defined department procedures and comply with all health and safety procedures and requirements.
  • Ensure all administrative duties are accurately completed in line with regulations in a timely manner
  • To complete objectives set by your Manager and/or the Business
  • To effectively complete the main and additional duties in line with company expectation
  • To comply with all departmental and company-wide policies and procedures
  • To maintain professional and technical knowledge and keep up to date with Industry changes
  • To regularly review and comply with our Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental and Data Protection policies and procedures
  • Scheduling and planning routes for multi-drop deliveries
  • Supporting internal and external customer deliveries and queries
  • Lead, communicate and motivate the transport team on the day-to-day activities and requirements of the department
  • Monitor and manage required documentation for training and qualifications for all members of the Transport Department and when required agency drivers.
  • Support customer needs in line with Company policy and procedure
  • Identify, monitor, adapt and review transport productivity, efficiency, compliance, risk etc. in-line with operational requirements and manage in line with company policy and procedure
  • Ensure all documentation is completed in compliance with all required standards, policies and procedures
  • To complete regular individual performance reviews for the department team
  • Provide technical and operational expertise to the team
  • To manage team feedback, issues or conflicts
  • Ensure the health, safety and welfare of all team members is maintained
  • Ensure general housekeeping duties are maintained

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

You will need to have CPC and good working knowledge of DVSA and FTA regulations. Experience of transport planning and managing /co-ordinating teams is essential.
