Key relationships

• Reports to the Site and Waste Management Team Leader in the Business Support and Facilities team.

What you'll be doing

• Responsible for removing general litter and waste from CHP communal buildings and grounds throughout our stock, reducing skip costs and improving the living conditions for our customers as well as assisting with CHP's responsibility for waste presentation.
• Dispose of items appropriately in line with CHP's procedures, maintaining accurate logs to ensure compliance with waste disposal legislation.
• Respond to incidents of fly tipping, unauthorised bulk waste and bin store misuse, removing items appropriately and safely to assist with the good housekeeping on our estates maintaining high standards for our customers.
• Ensure all communal refuse areas and stores are maintained to a standard acceptable for local authority collection (sheltered and general needs).
• Undertake routine tests for legionella in CHP's housing stock.

• Undertake aspects of grounds maintenance and general horticultural work at Myriad House as per summer/winter schedule as required.

Qualifications

• Evidence of attainment of good literacy and numeracy, e.g. through GCSEs or equivalent, or equivalent demonstrable prior learning.

• Full UK driving license.

Experience, knowledge and skills

• Ability to work pro-actively as part of a team to achieve objectives and manage conflicting priorities.
• Competent in maintaining records.
• Ability to manage and prioritise workload within agreed timescales.
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to engage with all levels of the organisation and build up good working relationships with external stakeholders.
• Good working knowledge of IT, including Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety in public areas, including manual handling.
