Job Description

Working pattern: arrangements between home and office work: Working in the office each day, Mon - Thurs, 9.30am to 2.30pm 5 hrs a day, other working pattern would be considered (some hybrid may be possible) - 20 hrs a week

Roles and responsibilities

  • By providing a first line service to students going onto, during and returning from practice placements, ensure that any practice learning activity relating to taught programmes is as integrated and seamless part of the student's learning experience.
  • Assist the Practice Learning Coordinator (academic) in planning placement allocations, whilst being responsible for the administration of informing placement providers and students of placement allocations, changes or cancellations and other required correspondence.
  • Develop and maintain processes and records that co-ordinate various practice placement requirements (including DBS and immunization checks).
  • Be the primary point of contact for students on placement, Practice Tutors and placement providers.
  • Support the investigation of often complex enquiries and the production of case notes for special cases (including mitigating circumstances, internal resolutions, appeals and complaints) whilst prioritizing difficult situations and advising on appropriate courses of action to resolve these promptly.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive, useful portfolio of practice placement providers, their primary points of contact and locations, for use by students and Practice Tutors.
  • Provide procedural advice and support to the Division of Physiotherapy under the guidance and steer of the Student Health Partnerships and Placements Manager (line-manager).
  • Use other IT systems when required specifically Business Objects (SITS reporting tool) and Blackboard Learn, producing and requesting postgraduate research student data reports and supporting the virtual learning environment as required.
  • Co-ordinate all on-site meetings and briefing sessions relating to the Department's engagement with Practice Educators and Practice Tutors.
  • Attend / participate in College or Departmental meetings and committees, supporting the Student Health Partnerships and Placements Manager when required.
  • Develop good working relationships with external partners and internal stakeholders; negotiating and influencing where necessary to priorities the needs of the student.
  • Facilitate payments and expenses for travel and ensure appropriate reporting.
