Job Description
  • Effectively manage rent, service charge and debt collection on a mixed tenure patch including rented homes, homeowners, garage licenses and commercial properties.
  • Follow the principles of the pre action protocol for rent arrears recovery focusing on early contact with customers if they fall behind with their rent or service charges. Use a variety of contact methods including telephone, letter, SMS, email and home visit to gain customer engagement.
  • Keep up to date with changes to the welfare benefit system to give customers advice on housing related benefits and calculate customers' housing benefit and universal credit entitlements
  • Identify households where there are safeguarding concerns and make appropriate safeguarding referrals.
  • In the event of an eviction, represent CHP at the eviction, arrange for customers' goods to be stored and collected and inform the Local Authority Homeless Teams of the customer's homelessness.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A full driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
  • Relevant experience, including experience of debt recovery processes.
  • Experience of working within a customer facing role with proven ability to deal with customers.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to use your initiative and take a flexible approach in managing conflicting priorities under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, precisely and sensitively
