The Salvation Army began on the streets of East London in 1865 when Methodists, William and Catherine Booth, abandoned the traditional concept of a church pulpit to take God’s word directly to the people. Today, we are able to tackle ongoing worldwide issues in over 130 countries by uniting Booth’s original mission and values with YOUR talents – turning those talents into Transforming Lives! By putting our faith into action, we offer practical aid for people without any form of discrimination, fight against injustice and stand alongside those who are vulnerable. We are Disability Confident employers and through our desire to do God’s work and our motivation to instil change, we inspire people every day to do the same. Services offered by The Salvation Army are diverse and responsive to the realities of life in the communities we serve. Which is where you come in, whether you are using your talents to empower our disadvantaged children and young people to reach their personal and collective potential; support the brave victims of modern slavery and human trafficking; reconcile family members who have lost contact through our Family Tracing service; work closely with our Homelessness service-users to break to cycle of rough sleeping, or any of the countless roles we fulfil, they are all vital to supporting some of the most defenceless people amongst us in society today. Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL) is the trading arm of The Salvation Army in the UK and Republic of Ireland. We were established in 1991 to help fund The Salvation Army’s vital work with vulnerable people in the UK, and today we raise money and encourage reuse and recycling through a network of over 230 charity shops, 2 Superstores, 8 Donation Centres and a rapidly expanding clothing collection division, all of which is constantly growing and developing. With the support of the British public, we have been able to donate millions of pounds to The Salvation Army – over £43 million has been donated in the last five years alone, helping to fund the extensive and very important work that The Salvation Army carries out– including homelessness and addiction services, care for older people, help at emergency incidents, support for adult victims of human trafficking in England and Wales and a Family Tracing Service. If you want to be a part of our success and to play a part in helping others whilst working for a fantastic company, then read on!
