About Us
The Student Association of the University of the West of Scotland has been supporting students since 1971 , when we were known as the Paisley College of Technology Students ’ Association . Our Students ’ Union now represents students from UWS campuses in Paisley , Ayr , Lanarkshire , Dumfries and London . We are a registered charity and a company l imited by guarantee . In June 2019 , following feedback from students and staff , we undertook a rebranding and are now known simply as Your Students ’ Union . We exist to enhance , in as many aspects as possible , the overall student experience of those studying at the University of the West of Scotland . We have a dynamic team of four elected student Sabbatical Officers who are elected each year by the student body of UWS . In addition to this we have a dedicated team of 12 permanent members of staff and 20 part time staff who deliver our commercial operations . We have an annual turnover of £800 ,000 that is a combination of grant income and trade income . We are looking to expand and diversify our income streams in the coming years to ensure greater financial stability .
