Primark, or Penneys in the Republic of Ireland, is the UK's second-largest clothing retailer with over 200 stores spread across Ireland, the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Portugal and Belgium. Although based in Ireland, the chain is a subsidiary of Associated British Foods (ABF) and is controlled by the Weston family through Wittington Investments. Founded by its chairman, Arthur Ryan, the company targets the under-35-year-old, fashion-conscious market and features departments including womenswear, lingerie, childrenswear, menswear, footwear, accessories, and household textiles.
