About Us

The Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) is a specialized, independent judicial body whose principal statutory functions are to hear appeals in respect of decisions made by competition and regulatory authorities and claims for damages (to recover losses caused by infringements of competition law) brought by individual / groups of claimants. Its jurisdiction in competition and economic regulatory cases extends to the whole of the UK and is central to the UK’s competition system. It is a court of equivalent status to the High Court and its counterparts in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
