Founded 2006 Industry Healthcare Link South Central Ambulance Service website South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (or SCAS for short) is part of the National Health Service (NHS). We were established on the 1 July 2006 following the merger of four ambulance trusts. On 1 March 2012, we became a foundation trust. Our emergency operations centres handle around half a million emergency and urgent calls each year. We serve the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire, and Sussex and Surrey for NEPTS. This area has a residential population of over 7 million. SCAS has over 103 sites across the South Central area and a Patient Transport Service (PTS) Centre in Sussex, to support the delivery of our PTS contract. We have headquarters in Bicester, Oxfordshire and Otterbourne, Hampshire. Each of these sites also houses a Clinical Co-ordination Centre, where 999 and NHS 111 calls are received, clinical advice provided and emergency vehicles dispatched if needed. We also have 111 facility in Milton Keynes. We have three PTS Contact Centres and 24 PTS bases. We have 23 Ambulance Resource Centres. We also deliver care in the community which means that we support our patients at home and in their local area. South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of emergency, urgent care and non-emergency healthcare services, along with commercial logistics services. The Trust delivers most of these services to the populations of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire as well as non-emergency patient transport services in Surrey and Sussex. We serve a population of over 7 million and answer over 500,000 urgent calls a year. We employ 4,551 staff who, together with over 1,100 volunteers, enable us to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
