Job Description

This role will involve ensuring all accounting deadlines are met for all clients, working in an accounts team of 6 and extending to the wider team of 20.

Responsibilities and Tasks include:

  • Being able to manage multiple work deadlines, to ensure all external deadlines are met for all clients
  • Preparing, completing, and filing self-assessments
  • Working with the team, discussing, and planning paperwork is received from clients in a timely manner, to ensure all processing can be completed within the planned timescales
  • Assessing all requirements for the practice is always compliant
  • Ensuring all training support is provided for the Apprentice
  • Completing all Client Due Diligence for new clients
  • Completing all AML for new clients
  • Producing management and financial accounts
  • Completing VAT returns and CT600 returns
  • Communicating with all clients via email updates monthly
  • Identifying any potential efficiencies for the practice, from a cost, value, or time perspective
  • Maintain a high level of CPD training
  • Working within a structured manner to provide support to less experienced colleagues
  • Providing internal training for team members on key financial information

Salary/package: £21,000 - £26,000K, depending on experience and qualifications. Working Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, with some flexibility.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
FMAAT or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years’ experience. Practice experience would be advantageous AML Certificate. Professional Ethics Certificate. Knowledge of HMRC registration and liaison with HMRC on queries. Experience with Self Assessments and VAT, preparation and filing. Use of Xero Accounting Software and Taxfiler Software would be an advantage. Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational capability. Being able to work to tight deadlines. Good oral and written communication skills. General IT and numerical skills. Experience: accounting: 2 years (Required). License/Certification: FMAAT or equivalent (Required).
