Job Description
The purpose of the Quality Engineer is to take responsibility for driving the highest standards of Quality across the business and ensuring that quality is not only maintained, but continually improved upon. The role is responsible for the various quality management systems and processes ensuring the highest standards of quality in both products and service. This role has management responsibility, leading and developing a team of Quality Controllers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for maintaining and implementing and improving the Quality Management System
Lead the coordination of Quality improvement activities through appropriate problem solving tools and techniques at all levels of the organization
Utilizes Six Sigma and other statistical methodologies to evaluate and reduce product, people and process variation
Lead program Quality planning required to achieve customer expectations for APQP and PPAP processes
Hands on day to day running of the Quality elements of the value stream, to ensure customer satisfaction is achieved and maintained, at optimum costs, in order to enhance company performance
To achieve and report agreed Quality KPI's
Define, develop and implement Quality assurance practices, procedures and test plans to ensure right first time production at point of manufacture
Build a culture of Quality importance and visual standards on the shop floor
To be the point of contact for dealing with customers; managing, steering & escalation of customer Quality concerns
Collaborate with supplier representatives on Quality problems; ensure that effective corrective actions are implemented
To use Quality Data Management (QDM) and Measurlink (SPC) to analyze and measure quality trends and metrics, to improve process Cpk
Manage non-conformance Quality issues to ensure effective corrective actions are taken to achieve a level of zero recurrence
Identify weakness in areas of the processes – develop countermeasures that will be in line with the business’s strategic ambitions
Lead audits of products and processes against Quality Management System requirements
Responsible for the specification, procurement, validation of gauging and measurement equipment
Ensure conformance to customer and regulatory quality requirements
People & Culture
To manage and lead quality team, developing skills, identifying talent and effectively delegating workload to assist and drive development
Supports the behavior of working as One Morgan, sharing best practice and collaborating with colleagues across cellular units as appropriate. Fosters functional and cross-functional relationships between Departments, Site, and Cluster as appropriate. Understands and lives by the Morgan Corporate Values.
Through active personal leadership, create a motivated and engaged climate in order to deliver goals effectively and efficiently.
Identify and deliver the necessary Operational resources, development of succession plans in order to create a high performing operation ready to deliver on current and future years’ targets.
Ensures full participation in the performance review system for all levels of staff. Conducts regular, honest and candid reviews to drive high performance in all team members. Identifies development needs for all staff and works to address as appropriate.
Environmental, Safety, Risk & Compliance
To be committed to and champion a strong EHS culture on site. Ensuring that all Operational staff are competent, adequately trained and supported to enable them to carry out their duties safely.
To develop a strong culture of near miss reporting across all staff to assist in driving improvements to the site safety performance.
Maintain a robust internal control environment in order to comply with local regulations and Morgan Advanced Materials plc policies.
To be committed to the Group-wide ethics and compliance programme, RBP; ensuring a common approach to doing business the right way and adhering at all times to the core elements of the programme - values, policies/guidance, training/education and compliance risk assessment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Previous proven experience in a Quality Engineering Role. Proven experience of managing others. Experience utilizing quality tools and Advanced Product Quality Planning techniques including, but not limited to; FMEA, SPA, SPC, Capability studies, DoE, 8D , Lean Sigma & Control Plans. Experience in Quality Engineering in an ISO 9001 environment requirements and how they may be achieved through Quality Data Management System, experience of a ISO 14001 and 18001 would be an advantage. Experience in project delivery, customer-facing roles and problem solving. Having experience in a volume manufacturing environment. Ideally a trained lead auditor. Qualified to HNC or equivalent level with a bias towards Quality. Previous proven experience with the implementation and improvement to ISO systems 9001, 14001, 18001. Proven leadership qualities, having a background in a volume manufacturing environment. Six Sigma green belt. Analytical and data driven. Performance Driven and Self Motivated. Strategic Innovative thinker, able to convert plans into effective lean solutions. Ability to motivate through coaching and experience. Tenacious, strong and forthright team player. Good effective communicator at all levels. Able to earn respect of team and peers. Strong planning and organizational skills. Effective negotiator. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
