Job Description

The successful candidate will: carry out financial management and reporting activities on both general ledger accounts and research grants; provide financial advice to Principal Investigators and other budget holders; liaise with the Departmental Finance team and assist with month-end, half year-end and year-end processes; manage procurement and invoicing processes for the Hub; ensure recharges, credit cards and expenses are processed in a timely manner; contribute to the review of financial processes and procedures and make proposals for adaptations and improvements as necessary to ensure compliance with the Financial Regulations.

The role holder will also need to be a good communicator and be able to work as a team. Must also have a demonstrable interest in a career in Finance


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

In order to fulfil the duties of this post, we are looking for applicants who possess the following qualifications, skills and experience: educated to HND, HNC level 4/5 vocational qualification or equivalent level of practical experience; a GCSE, or equivalent qualification, in Maths and English; AAT Intermediate or equivalent (or working towards) qualification (desirable); relative experience in an accounts-based role, with use of accountancy software packages and relevant reporting tools; previous experience in research grant finance administration (desirable); advanced Excel skills in data manipulation and the presentation of financial information, with good numerical problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy; ability to work to tight deadlines; ability to demonstrate factual and theoretical knowledge of finance administration.
